How to Rig The POON

The POON Harpoon is designed to be thrown or used as a cockpit harpoon.  In order to make sure everything comes back to the boat when thrown, a clip should be attached to the end cap. On the newer style end caps a 1/4-20 Stainless Steel eye bolt can be threaded right into the cap and then a stainless steel Alpine/Safety Line Clip attached to the eye bolt (see image below). On the older style end cap, use a 2 1/2" Stainless Steel eye bolt through the hole in the end cap with a 1/4-20 lock nut on the reverse side to lock the eye bolt in place and then add the stainless clip.  Once the clip is attached to the end cap it can then be clipped to the harpoon basket line and rigged according to the instructions below.

Rigging Instructions

1. Clip harpoon to mainline (harpoon basket line) (image 1)

2. Tape mainline to harpoon shaft with electrical tape once around or spiral (image 2)

This keeps the dart from falling off when facing down and stays rigged if thrown and missed.

3. Harpoon is ready to throw (Make sure clip is clipped to mainline)

4. Harpoon will detach from rigged dart and dangle from harpoon line (image 3)

5. Do not tie off to cleat. We recommend 100' 3/8" line with A-1 Polyball in a crate (image 4)
